In 1995 I left home for a boarding school. [WOW that's 15 years ago!!] I didn’t know anyone. I mean, maybe I knew 3 people…and I knew them as well as I know that extra 300 friends I have on Facebook. Yeah, not very well. Enter, Melanie. Melanie was not only my first friend, she was also my roommate. We were close friends all through school and even shared a cute little cottage on the river together in college.
Long story short, the years have passed. We are not “tight” friends anymore. We don’t call each other once a week, once a month…actually, we probably hadn’t called each in years until it came time to schedule her engagement session.
But you know what…we have that kind of friendship. We may not see each other even once a year if we’re lucky. But when we do, it’s high school all over again, baby!! Not a day has passed. We laugh like none other, act like crazy goofballs, and would probably embarrass ourselves if we really cared. I love it and absolutely treasure that about our friendship.
So now Melanie’s getting married. Enter, Micheal…I think I’ll grow on him….at least I hope :] Either way, he’s stuck with me, even though it may only be once a year!! I am so happy for them both and wish them the best!
So, on to the shoot. Last night I was reminded that I ♥♥♥ Old Town Lansing. If you have never been…GO! I mean ASAP.
This place has charm and I know you will fall in love with it too!

These were taken in front of Lamb’s Gate Antiques. I am seriously heading back there to shop til I drop!

These were taken in front of Tallulah’s Folly, “An Eccentric Retreat Filled With A Melange Of Unique Offerings, Flora And Shenanigans”…totally cool in every way. Yep, gonna be shoppin’ there too.

These last images are really special. Micheal gave Melanie this book when her proposed to her…engraved with her soon.to.be new name!!

To top off the night, we devoured a super yummy pesto pizza from Sir Pizza! Mmmmm….oh yeah, I’m going back for that too.
Micheal & Melanie, I am so excited for your wedding day, and SO glad I’ll be taking photos, because I know I’m gonna be tearin’ up—but I can just stick that camera right in my face and no one will ever know! Aaah, the perks of being a photographer. ;]
