Melanie & Micheal | Engaged!!

In 1995 I left home for a boarding school. [WOW that's 15 years ago!!]  I didn’t know anyone.  I mean, maybe I knew 3 people…and I knew them as well as I know that extra 300 friends I have on Facebook.  Yeah, not very well. Enter, Melanie.  Melanie was not only my first friend, she was also my roommate.  We were close friends all through school and even shared a cute little cottage on the river together in college.

Long story short, the years have passed.  We are not “tight” friends anymore.  We don’t call each other once a week, once a month…actually, we probably hadn’t called each in years until it came time to schedule her engagement session.

But you know what…we have that kind of friendship.  We may not see each other even once a year if we’re lucky.  But when we do, it’s high school all over again, baby!!  Not a day has passed.  We laugh like none other, act like crazy goofballs, and would probably embarrass ourselves if we really cared. I love it and absolutely treasure that about our friendship.

So now Melanie’s getting married.  Enter, Micheal…I think I’ll grow on him….at least I hope :]  Either way, he’s stuck with me, even though it may only be once a year!!  I am so happy for them both and wish them the best!

So, on to the shoot.  Last night I was reminded that I ♥♥♥ Old Town Lansing.  If you have never been…GO!  I mean ASAP.
This place has charm and I know you will fall in love with it too!

These were taken in front of Lamb’s Gate Antiques.  I am seriously heading back there to shop til I drop!

These were taken in front of Tallulah’s Folly, “An Eccentric Retreat Filled With A Melange Of Unique Offerings, Flora And Shenanigans”…totally cool in every way.  Yep, gonna be shoppin’ there too.

These last images are really special. Micheal gave Melanie this book when her proposed to her…engraved with her soon.to.be new name!!

To top off the night, we devoured a super yummy pesto pizza from Sir Pizza! Mmmmm….oh yeah, I’m going back for that too.

Micheal & Melanie, I am so excited for your wedding day, and SO glad I’ll be taking photos, because I know I’m gonna be tearin’ up—but I can just stick that camera right in my face and no one will ever know!   Aaah, the perks of being a photographer.  ;]

Steph & Jeff | Sneak Peek

I couldn’t believe the day was finally here.  I almost had to pinch myself!

I gladly introduce to you…

The Akenberger’s!!!

A couple of my fav’s from Steph & Jeff’s first glimpse of each other.

They chose to see each other before the wedding, which is awesome for everyone because that means more time for PHOTOS!!

Yep, this is what 90 degrees looks like :]

Stephanie and Jeff, I have been waiting for this day for as long as you have and I’m so thankful I was able to share it with you!!

You both looked absolutely fabulous and were awesome to work with!

But first and foremost to being clients, you are my friends, and I wish you the best in the future!

God bless you both,

<3 msd

Jordan

Spunky. Fun. Energetic. Amusing. Dyamic. Jordan.

What can I say? This girl’s got class & style.

And those shoooooes!  Ughhh…you’re killin’ me, girl!

And for those of you that reeeally know Jordan?

Yep. Now, that’s Jordan.

:]

It’s Senior Season!!

Rewind the clock 5 years:
I’m teaching the Earliteens in Sabbath school. Keaton is among them. I am overly impressed by his manners, gentleness and calm nature.

Back to the present:
Not much has changed. Except he’s not in Earliteens anymore. And we’re both a little bit older.

Keaton, you are a true gentleman.  May God continue to bless your plans for the future!

Up, up and away!

I got to see some beautiful hot air balloons over in New Hudson this weekend!

And I got a few shots before the battery died.

Yep, a photographer guilty of taking a nearly dead battery, where ever she goes. (Shhhh…that’s our little secret.)
